ASIAN Martindale abrasion machine is suitable for testing the pilling degree and abrasion resistance of woven fabric, synthetic leather, artificial leather, woolen fabric, etc. under pressure, which is used in many industries such as shoes, textile, and garment.

The Asian pilling tester, or Martindale Tester, determines the pilling resistance and abrasion of all types of textile structures. During testing, the samples are rubbed with abrasive materials in continuously changing directions at low pressure. And the amount of pilling and abrasion parameters obtained are compared with the standard parameters. This is called the Martindale rub test of that sample.

Asian martindale abrasion tester is used to test and operate the abrasion performance of medical protective clothing for use in medical scenarios.

Martindale abrasion test refers to the testing of any products as per the standard system already set by Martindale and tests the abrasion resistance of the fabric through Martindale test. Abrasion resistance of fabric refers to the resistance of fabric to other materials in the process of repeated friction with other materials. Pilling resistance is an important quality index of textile products that determines its product quality, which directly affects the application performance of the product. Martindale pilling tester is used to test pilling resistance and abrasion of fabric

The result of a test sample from a Martindale machine is usually given as a score for the full cycle or 1000 rub. Abrasion resistance is an important index of textile product quality, the higher the cycle or rub score of the sample, the more suitable the sample is. We classify the quality of clothes basically based on test results.

Martindale Abrasion and Pilling Tester Working Principle

The Martindale Pilling and Abrasion Tester produces a Lissajous pattern trajectory by rubbing a sample that is circular in a plane motion against a standard cloth (abrasive) under a certain load. The Lissajous curve (also called the Lissajous pattern, or Bowditch curve) is the synthesis of two trajectories of sinusoidal vibrations with mutually perpendicular directions.

Martindale test standard

Because different regions and different countries have different Martindale test standards, we also call them international standards, which can be divided into European standards, American standards, Chinese standards, etc. Details are as follows:

best international standards

ISO12947.2—1998 Pilling resistance and friction force testing of fabrics by the Martindale method—Part 2: Measurement of specimen rupture;

ISO12947.3—1998 Pilling resistance and friction force testing of fabrics by the Martindale method—Part 3: Measurement of mass loss;

ISO12947.4—1998 Pilling resistance and friction force testing of fabrics by the Martindale method—Part 4: Measurement of appearance changes.

Which is according to the American Material Association Standard (ASTM).

astm d4966-2010

EU standard

ENISO12947.2-1998 Pilling resistance and friction force testing of fabrics by the Martindale method-Part 2: Measurement of specimen rupture;

ENISO12947.3-1998 Pilling resistance and friction force test of fabrics by the Martindale method - Part 3: Measurement of mass loss;

ENISO12947.4-1998 Pilling resistance and friction force testing of fabrics by the Martindale method - Part 4: Measurement of appearance change.

Chinese standard
